ABOUT FAIRTRADE:

• FairTrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. Cotton farming is often linked to significant environmental damage, and the extensive usage of agrochemicals and water are not sustainable practices. Our answer is to combine FairTrade Standards with organic production. FairTrade works with farmers to stop or reduce the usage of agrochemicals, and to support them in adapting to a changing climate (e.g. FairTrade cotton fields in West Africa and India are now mostly rain-fed, thus reducing the region’s water footprint).
